Cold laser therapy (also called Low Level Laser Therapy) is a LED light therapy that improves tissue repair, reduces inflammation, and reduces pain wherever the beam is applied. It is the cutting edge in pain relief and better healing. Laser therapy treatment increases oxygenation of tissues which speeds up the healing process.
What condition does it help?
Laser therapy can help with many injuries such as
- Strains
- Sprains
- Shoulder or Knee injuries
- Carpel tunnel syndrome
- Traumatic injuries
- Arthritis
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Nerve Pain
- Skin/Diabetic Ulcers
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Headaches
- Neck pain and bulging disc
- Postoperative Pain
- Trigeminal Neuralgia
How does is work?
Cold laser uses light energy directed at your skin. The light triggers chemical changes that help damaged cells and tissues heal and regrow. Unlike modalities such as cortisone injections and anti-inflammatory pills, laser does not suppress inflammation but rather stimulates the body’s cells to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain. A cascade of mitochondrial and intracellular change leads to improved tissue repair and reduced inflammation by increasing ATP and reducing oxidative stress.
What should I feel?
The treatment is pain free. You should feel a significant reduction of inflammation within 2 hours that will last for a few days. Then a repeat treatment is needed.
What do I wear?
It is best to wear lose fitting clothes (no jeans) as the laser must have skin contact.
How long are the treatments?
It depends on the conditions but generally less than an hour. It’s best to call me directly so I can help you determine what kind of treatment is needed.
